Obstacles and islands
Distinguish objects to avoid, areas to exclude and items to remove before mowing. Navigation and obstacle detection are different functions.

Three actions to prepare the area
- Remove
Movable objects that do not belong on the lawn.
- Exclude
Restricted areas according to model requirements.
- Check
Passages, station access and the first outing after changes.
Inventory the garden before choosing sensors
Mark three categories on your plan: permanent features, movable objects and areas where mowing must not occur. A mature tree, a hose and a drop in level need different treatment. Include furniture legs, low structures and places where items may be left after using the garden.
For each feature, record the proposed solution: physical protection specified by the manual, a mowing boundary, an exclusion zone or removal before starting. This is a preparation method, not a sensor capability claim. It avoids searching for a mower assumed to recognise everything outdoors.
Positioning is not universal object detection
RTK describes positioning. It does not alone establish that a mower detects toys. LiDAR, cameras and bumpers perform functions combined differently across models. Check the actual equipment and limitations instead of inferring behaviour from a technology label.
MOVA describes LiDAX Ultra as combining LiDAR and a camera. Recognition claims still do not guarantee protection of every object or animal. Check the settings and preparation requirements in the exact documentation.
Check options before comparing prices
WORX lists ACS obstacle avoidance as an option on the official WR167E page. A picture or list of available features does not prove it is included in your package. Check the reference, box contents and additional cost.
Use two columns: included and required extras. Include temporary exclusion arrangements, installation materials and compatibility. You can then compare complete solutions rather than a base price against an equipped bundle.
Maps, exclusion zones and corridors
The S4 manual explains exclusion zones and corridors between work areas. It also recommends removing unnecessary clutter before mowing. A planned exclusion zone and a response to an object appearing during an outing are different mechanisms.
After changing a bed, moving furniture or closing a passage, check that the plan still makes sense. Observe a permitted outing without deliberately using children, animals or fragile objects as test obstacles. Boundaries near pools or drops must follow manufacturer instructions, including any required physical protection.
October: reassess the garden and interpret reviews
An October inventory can cover relocated items, low branches, obstructed passages and station access. Remove things that do not belong on the lawn and inspect places where assistance was required. Record the circumstances before concluding there is a navigation defect.
In reviews, look for the exact model, ownership time and obstacle context. One stoppage beneath a branch does not measure an entire technology. Combine manual limits, your plan and documented experiences, keeping manufacturer facts, individual accounts and your needs distinct.

FAQ
Does RTK mean automatic obstacle avoidance?
No. Check the sensors and options of the exact model.
Can toys stay on the lawn?
Remove objects as required by the manual. Detection does not replace preparing the area.
