Our comparison method

How we check sources, explain selection criteria and make the limits of our robot mower comparisons clear.

Updated 13 September 2026 · Niva

Start with your yard

The finder asks about actual lawn area, maximum slope and its location, yard features, boundary-wire installation and budget. Trees, narrow passages, separate areas and obstacles trigger additional checks. Navigation technology alone does not establish whether a mower suits your yard.

Check the model and its sources

We prioritize manufacturer pages and manuals for technical limits. Retail listings help identify variants, bundles and buying options. The catalogue also contains information from Amazon listings, which is not independent measurement. Verified manufacturer specifications replace conflicting retail information. Uncertain variants are flagged; doubtful area figures are excluded from numerical filters until resolved.

Compare specific criteria

Advertised coverage is a stated capacity, not a performance guarantee for every yard. Slopes are expressed as percentages: 20% means a 20 cm rise over 1 m horizontally. The limit at the boundary may differ from the limit inside the lawn. We distinguish boundary wire, RTK, LiDAR, vision and hybrid systems. Missing runtime, cutting width or noise figures remain unknown.

Explain the shortlist

Only models with sufficient manufacturer evidence enter the finder. A mower is excluded when documented specifications conflict with your area, slope, refusal of boundary wire or reference budget. Results distinguish documented compatible criteria from options requiring more checks. Unknown slope, missing boundary limits or missing prices never count as automatic passes. The finder covers a documented selection, not the entire market.

Put budget figures in context

Available manufacturer reference prices show their country, currency, source and date. They are neither live Amazon prices nor guaranteed local offers. The finder compares only matching currencies, with no implicit euro-to-dollar conversion. Installation, garages and accessories may add to the total cost. Check the retailer’s current price, seller and exact bundle before buying.

Summarize reviews without inventing ratings

Summaries use reviews we actually consulted and identify the source, reading date and sample size. We describe strengths, recurring difficulties and limitations linked to use or variant. A small, non-random sample measures neither satisfaction across all buyers nor a failure rate. Translating a summary does not create a new sample of US, German or French reviews.

Keep comparisons usable

Compare two to four mowers side by side, show only differences and share your selection. Filters use available specifications, leaving unknown values visible. We do not assign performance scores without a measurement protocol. Documentary analysis and illustrations, including AI-generated images, are not presented as hands-on testing.

Affiliate links, updates and corrections

Niva may earn from qualifying purchases through some Amazon links. An affiliate link does not prove product quality or alter the finder’s rules. Each language points to its corresponding Amazon store; unverified local variants lead to clearly labelled searches. Sources and observation dates make information traceable. An editorial update does not mean that every price or review was checked again that day. To report an error, use the contact listed in the legal notice.
