Choose a shelter around the exact mower and station requirements. Seasonal cover does not guarantee frost-free winter storage.
A roof is not a frost-free room
A mower garage sits over or around the charging station. Depending on its design it may limit direct exposure, but an unheated shelter does not guarantee above-freezing temperatures. A roof or walls establish neither frost protection nor extra years of battery life.
Identify the purpose first: covering the station during the season, easier maintenance or winter storage. These needs do not necessarily call for the same equipment. For frost-free storage, check actual room conditions and the mower instructions rather than the word “garage”.
Check explicit compatibility
WORX explicitly lists WR167E as compatible with WA0194. That is more useful than a generic “suitable for robotic mowers” claim. It does not establish suitability for every Vision model, other generations or other brands.
Match mower, station and shelter references. Check entry width, clearance height, usable depth, fixings and control access. External roof dimensions may differ from usable space beneath. Compatibility also does not permit changing prescribed installation clearances.
Keep station access clear
Start with station requirements rather than where a roof looks least conspicuous. Respect ground, power, communication and positioning requirements. Do not obscure features the mower needs to locate its base.
For example, the S4 manual requires 1.5 m clear in front of its station. That is neither a compatible garage size nor a universal rule. Check your exact instructions and keep posts, walls and stored objects out of the route. Observe departure and return after permitted installation.
Consider maintenance and package contents
Plan access to contacts, debris removal and inspection without dismantling the structure each time. Check assembly instructions and supplied fixings. Confirm suitability before reusing a slab or support; an attractive solution can complicate maintenance.
Shelters may be separate or bundled. Compare exact references and dated prices. A photo of a mower under a roof does not prove both are included. Add required mounting materials without treating optional equipment as mandatory for every mower.
October: prepare actual winter storage
Inventory mower, station, power supply and other components to leave outside or bring indoors. The S4 manual requires dry, frost-free mower storage, a full charge and switching off. A generic partial-charge rule therefore cannot be applied to every brand.
Record each component’s storage location and steps before moving it. Installation photos and the relevant manual page help prepare restarting. A garden shed is suitable only when its conditions meet the requirements; a roof over a lawn station is not equivalent winter storage.
