Around 500 m²
For 500 m² of lawn, compare capacity, operating windows and access between zones. These examples help assess the garden without rankings or a universal capacity margin.

500 m² of grass, not land
Add only mowing areas, excluding the house, patio and beds. Sketch their connections. A 300 m² back lawn and 200 m² front lawn total 500 m², but may not form one accessible work area. Steps or closed passages may require a model-specific operating arrangement.
Measure bottlenecks and slopes, then mark edges, roots and exclusions. Area helps shortlist capacity; it does not establish that the mower can reach every part of the garden.
Do not automatically double capacity
A mower rated for 500 m² is not automatically too small, and a 1,000 m² model is not automatically suitable. Check operating conditions and time windows behind the rating. Numbers in model names are not a substitute for specifications.
Record acceptable operating hours and areas. With restricted time windows, ask the manufacturer to confirm suitability for the plan and schedule. An arbitrary “always buy twice the capacity” rule does not resolve missing information.
Two examples for a useful comparison
WORX rates WR167E for 700 m² with wire installation; MOVA rates LiDAX Ultra 800 for 800 m² with LiDAR and vision, without boundary wire. These illustrate different installations, but capacity alone cannot rank them for your 500 m² garden.
Compare slope, passage width, cutting width and height, included equipment and maintenance. Check the offered variant, including optional avoidance and accessories. Keep the choice tied to your plan rather than a brand ranking.
Allow for finishing and separate areas
Grass beside walls differs from a lawn flush with a path. Check required clearances and remaining manual trimming. Multi-zone support does not automatically mean the mower can cross a step between lawns.
Ask about connections and areas that cannot be connected. Include station location and clearance. These requirements can distinguish adequately rated candidates more clearly than battery capacity in Ah alone.
Prepare your shortlist in October
Use October to record obstructed passages and observed difficulties. If buying before storage, check when you can test installation and where the manual requires the equipment to be kept. Do not choose on discount alone.
Keep dated price, package, manual and unresolved questions together. Exact-variant reviews can clarify setup and reported interventions, but do not replace manufacturer limits or establish long-term reliability from a few outings.

FAQ
Must I always choose a higher rating?
No. Check manufacturer conditions, time windows and terrain. Higher capacity does not solve an incompatible passage.
Is battery capacity enough to compare?
No. Compare navigation, work cycles, charging and connections using exact model data.
